Internship: Sensor placement and flow estimation in thermo-fluid systems

MERL is seeking a Ph.D. student intern for sensor placement and flow estimation problems in turbulent flows related to the built environment. We are looking for candidates with expertise in linear/nonlinear optimal control applied to systems governed by PDEs. A solid background in numerical linear algebra, and graduate level fluid dynamics and dynamical systems coursework is required. Duration of the internship is expected to be 3 months. Start date is flexible, and publication of results is encouraged.
